US Senator Apologizes To Nigerians

The office of United States Texas' Senator Ted Cruz has issued an apology letter to Nigerians. Cruz compared the glitches plaguing the website for President Barack Obama's signature health care law to the methodologies of "Nigerian email scammers."

The apology comes after the Nigerian ambassador to the United States, Ade Adefuye, reprimanded Cruz for disappointing and offending Nigerians, and disparaging a country for political points. The Nigerian ambassador said he understood Cruz's attempt to rile up his support base, but was surprised when Cruz did not deny what he said. "To allow him to ridicule a country and its citizens is completely over the top," Adefuye said. "He should not denigrate Nigerians in order to appease these domestic constituents."

RE: NIGERIAN EMAIL SCAMMERS AND OBAMACARE

You are no doubt aware of the reaction of Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to a statement credited to your good self on the above.

Our immediate reaction at the Embassy is to assume that you were wrongly quoted and that the statement would be denied. We are however surprised that this has not happened. We have no choice than to assume that the statement was deliberately made by you.

For a start we are shocked that a high profile Senator of a country which is at the forefront in building a peaceful and stable world in which nations and peoples treat each other with mutual respect could be engaged in an act which offends the sensitivities of an important component of his constituency.

Distinguished Senator I am sure you are sufficiently familiar with the constructive contributions which Nigerians have made to economic, social and political lives of Texas especially in the Houston area. Every country has its own share of law breakers. To use the activities of few as an opportunity to cast aspersions on the integrity of a country and its people is not only unfair but also excessively offensive. You yourself made the point that the so-called email scammers have disappeared from the scene. But it is not because they were recruited to work on Obamacare. It is because of the successful efforts of our government working through the Embassy and the international law enforcing agents to curb the activities of these few law breakers.

It is not the practice of any Nigerian diplomatic mission to interfere in the domestic affairs of our host countries. But we will not sit back, fold our arms while a politician assaults the integrity of our country and people in the process of appeasing the base instincts of a few misguided elements in his constituency. Distinguished Senator the least we can say is that Nigerians feel offended by you. They demand an apology.

And even to those few unscrupulous email scammers who were the subject of the joke, I apologize to you for the unfair comparison to the utterly dysfunctional Obamacare website.

Ne-Yo Talks About Singing With Celine Dion On New Album – “It Was An Honour And Pleasure”

Singer Ne-Yo wrote a track and also featured on Celine Dion’s upcoming Loved Me Back To Life album, and has talked about the experience of singing with the R&B legend.
In a behind-the-scenes video for Access Hollywood, Ne-Yo says ‘Working with Celine Dion is kind of like a kid in a Candy Store because having that huge and incredible voice for me to do basically whatever I want to do with it, is like a kid with a brand new toy.’
He continues, ‘It’s an honour and pleasure to sing with Celine Dion but it’s not an easy thing,’ before joking ‘ It’s the most irrelevant I’ve ever felt ‘ the size of her voice, you don’t need me there she could do the whole song herself. I honestly feel like she was just being nice to me letting me sing on the song!’ Celine returned the compliment ‘Thank you so very much. I love the song, I admire you and I’m privileged to have the song.’
He describes the track Incredible as ‘A situation where you are in the spotlight and it’s all or nothing, do or die. I’m here, everybody’s watching. Let me do something incredible, let me do something that’s going to make people remember I was here.’ Celine adds ‘This song is gonna become a song for the Olympics, for a big finals with the team coming out (on to the pitch) and the whole world is watching and it’s incredible.’
Ne-Yo finished by saying ‘Things to do before you die; write a song for Celine Dion, check. Sing a song with Celine Dion, check. It’s one of those moments where you step outside of yourself and go ‘Wow!’.’
The track features on Celine’s first English language album since 2007′s Taking Chances, alongside new single and title track Loved Me Back To Life, which was penned by Sia, as well as a duet with Stevie Wonder with a new take on his hit Overjoyed.
Other writers and producers on the album include Eg White, Diane Warren and Babyface.
Loved Me Back To Life the album is out on 11th November in the UK.

Bruce Jenner Wasn’t Invited To Kim & Kanye’s Engagement, Will Probably Kill Himself

According to TMZ, Bruce Jenner was not invited to Kim and Kanye’s engagement which probably was the greatest thing that ever happened to him, short of no longer having sex with an arid vagina that speaks Satanic prophecy, because it turns out Bruce fucking hates Kim, Kourtney and Khloe and doesn’t want his real daughters to turn into “stupid, needy attention whores” like them. The National Enquirer reports:

Why Hollywood Needs 'Jackass'

Hollywood loves to take itself very seriously, especially in the fall. This is the season when the town rolls out its Oscar pics – serious movies like 12 Years a Slave, Captain Phillips and The Counselor. It’s the perfect time for something as silly as a Jackass movie.
Call it counter programming. Gravity and Captain Phillips are still going strong at the box office. The other big movie opening this weekend is The Counselor. With a prestigious cast that includes Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Cameron Diaz, the movie has serious-adult-film written all over it. Unfortunately, the critics don’t seem thrilled about the movie. It currently scores a 53 out of 100 on Rotten Tomatoes. Exhibitor Relations expects the film will earn $13 million this weekend ranking it in third place.
The latest film from Johnny Knoxville and friends, Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, is expected to top the box office this weekend with $32 million, according to Exhibitor Relations. That would be the second-best opening of the four Jackass movies which feature real people doing idiotic stunts that usually result in them getting hurt in hysterical ways. The films are like America’s Funniest Home Videos on steroids. (The last Jackass film, which was in 3-D, earned $50 million opening weekend.)
There’s a place for these kinds of movies in the Hollywood hierarchy. The movie world has been divided into two spheres: Giant-budget franchise films that are so chock full of special effects you walk out with a headache, and lower budget serious films that are designed to win Oscars.
Paramount is carving a third path with Jackass. The films are cheap to produce. The first movie cost just $6 million. The most expensive Jackass movie was the 3-D film which cost $20 million. The newest film, which is lower tech, likely cost close to Jackass 2′s $11 million.
So if the film earns $32 million this weekend, it will be well on its way to profitability (the production budget does not include advertising costs and studios take home about half of the price of each ticket). Plus it’s getting better reviews than The Counselor. Bad Grandpa has a 78 out of 100 on Rotten Tomatoes. No one ever went broke overestimating America’s taste for people getting kicked in the groin. Expect the Jackass gang to keep churning out their films for as long as they can.

Michael Jackson regains crown as top-earning dead celebrity

(Reuters) - Michael Jackson regained the title of the highest-earning dead celebrity in the past year, easily surpassing Elvis Presley and cartoonist Charles Schulz, Forbes magazine said on Wednesday.After being pushed into second place by Elizabeth Taylor last year, Jackson, who died in 2009, was back on top with estimated earnings of $160 million in the 12 months from October 2012 to 2013.
"He earned the bulk of his bucks from two Cirque du Soleil shows, his Mijac Music catalog, recorded music sales and his half of the Sony/ATV publishing empire - which includes the copyright to hits by the Beatles, Lady Gaga, Eminem and Taylor Swift, among others," Forbes said.
Presley was a distant second with $55 million, followed by Schulz, the creator of the Peanuts comic strip, who came in third for the second consecutive year with $37 million.
Taylor dropped to fourth place with earnings of $25 million, a huge dip from last year when her estate pulled in an estimated $210 million with much of it from the auction of her jewels.
Reggae star Bob Marley rounded out the top five with earnings of $18 million. The singer, who died of cancer at the age of 36 in 1981, has sold more than 75 million albums in the past two decades, according to Forbes.
Nobel-prize winning physicist Albert Einstein, dropped one place to No. 8 this year with earnings of $10 million, while Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera, who died in a plane crash in December at the age of 43, was new to the list at No. 13 with $7 million.
Forbes compiled the list by talking to estate managers, lawyers and licensors and analyzing estimated posthumous earnings between October 2012-2013.

Kelly Rowland’s Father Makes Another Desperate Plea for Forgiveness

Two summers ago, Kelly Rowland’s father Christopher Lovett made a public plea in hopes of seeing his daughter for the first time in over 20 years. Lovett, 65 at the time, recalled to the U.K. Sunday Mirror that he attended one of her concerts and sat in the cheap seats crying tears of joy. He begged a security guard to pass a personal note onto Kelly. However his attempts fell on deaf ears because the guard didn’t believe he was Rowland’s father.
Rowland and her mother were evicted from their home when she was 7. Reportedly after this time, the former Destiny’s Child star lost contact with her father who suffered from alcoholism and verbally abused her mother. Lovett says he is a changed man now and wants another chance with his daughter.
Most recently he told Radar Online,
“So many previous years have passed and I’m getting old. [He's 67] I just pray she comes back into my life before it’s too late.[...]I couldn’t control [the drinking and verbal abuse that Kelly witnessed]. I hoped I could make it up to her. But I’m still waiting for that day.”
He added: “It wasn’t physical between me and Kelly’s mom, but there were many days and nights when Kelly would be bawling her eyes out, clutching my leg begging me, ‘Please daddy, stop shouting at mummy.’ That image of her howling, begging me to stop will haunt me forever.”
After her father’s initial plea in summer 2011, Rowland responded that November, telling UK Cosmo:
“He reached out to me saying he wanted to see me, but it’s unfortunate he did it so publicly. I want to meet him, and soon, I really do. I forgave him a long time ago. I haven’t seen my dad for almost 20 years. It’s nothing I want a pity party for. He left me and my mom and I was angry. I wanted to be a daddy’s girl so bad…”The Cosby Show” … made me think, ‘Why aren’t my family like that?’ But this is not a perfect world.”
Rowland made plans to see her father that Christmas, however based on Lovett’s current plea, that meet-up apparently never happened.

Diddy Chokes Up Remembering His Father

On the morning of  the launch of his first network channel, REVOLT TV, Sean “Diddy” Combs was captured in a vulnerable moment speaking of the influence of his father.
Diddy didn’t have much time to get to know his father, who died when he was only 3 years old, however the media mogul is certain he wouldn’t be where he is today without the DNA of his father pumping through his veins.
“My father was killed when I was 3 years old. I don’t have a lot of memories of my father. They say you can’t miss something you never had. That’s only a little ways right,” he said. “There’s definitely been times as I’ve gotten older that I’ve missed my father and his presence not being there, to have someone to ask manly advice and just things that you would ask your father. Also things that you would celebrate with him that would make him proud. My father was a hustler. He was a drug dealer. He was a hustler. So I learned early in life there’s only two ways out of that, dead or in jail. It made me work even harder.
“Sometimes you can’t just ask why things happen, but I definitely think the route that I went on – staying out the streets and hitting my books and trying to be somebody – I think he played a role in that. I think that even if we don’t know our parents, we still have their DNA in us. We have their genes. I have his hustler mentality, his hustler spirit, his drive, his determination. His swag. He’s gonna be on my mind a lot today. My father’s name was Melvin Combs and I’m Melvin’s son, Sean Combs.

A source said Kim was caught completely off guard by the proposal.
“When the lights went on [on the Jumbotron], she was frozen,” the source said. “She was in complete shock.”

She went to the Sing Sing Karaoke bar with a group of girlfriends and a male model on Monday night, though she didn’t drink any alcohol herself.
She’s currently filming an eight-part series for Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network, which will document her road from rehab to recovery. The show will reportedly earn her a big $2 million payday.

“Ryan’s friends know he is ready to settle down, 100 percent,” the source said. “Eva loves Ryan, but she’s very nontraditional when it comes to what she wants. She’s phobic about commitment. That’s the root of the problem.”

It’s true that Eva has expressed a wariness about marriage in prior interviews, telling Chelsea Handler on her talk show that she found the institution to be “a very old-fashioned, archaic kind of thing. We did it for land originally…how unromantic is that?”

Less isn't always more! After months of making headlines for wearing very little (or nothing at all), Miley Cyrus covered up in a floor-length gown at the "Galaxy"-themed 30th Annual Night of Stars event on Tuesday, Oct. 22 -- and the results were stunning.

Walking the red carpet at New York City hotspot Cipriani Wall Street, the 20-year-old "Wrecking Ball" singer turned heads in a glittering green Marc Jacobs frock, which she paired with Saint Laurent shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Compared with some of the former Disney star's more recent ensembles, the dress was demure -- but only from the front.

The sequined gown showed plenty of skin from behind, scooping low on the fashion-conscious diva's back. Green eyeshadow and a slicked-back 'do completed the glam look.
An onlooker tells Us Weekly that Cyrus -- who was at the event to present the Superstar Award to Marc Jacobs -- was "smiling a lot" on the red carpet. She declined to do any interviews, but she did turn around and flash a big grin when asked by Us whether she was ready to fall in love again. (The Hannah Montana alum split from fiance Liam Hemsworth earlier this past summer.)

"I'm just letting that chapter kind of close, and just looking forward to that new one," the Bangerz artist told Ellen DeGeneres recently of their breakup. "I want to be really clear and determined with everything that I'm doing in my life right now, and I have been."

She continued: "I keep saying I'm the happiest I've ever been, and that's not even a dig. That's just me, because I really am genuinely happy finally with myself. I think sometimes it takes you separating yourself from someone else to really be happy with who you are. I've never been able to just be alone -- and I'm obsessed with being alone and hearing my thoughts."

Underwood will star on live TV in 'Sound of Music'

NEW YORK (AP) — The end of the year looks busy for Carrie Underwood, and she couldn't be happier.

The six-time Grammy-winning singer will host the Country Music Association Awards for the sixth time. You can see her singing the opening on NBC's "Sunday Night Football." And for one night in December, she'll star in a live television version of "The Sound of Music."

The 30-year-old star told the Associated Press on the red carpet Tuesday night at the TJ Martell Foundation gala, where she was one of the night's honorees, that she is nervous doing something she's never done before. But then she realized, "None of us have. This is a live show on TV. So this is definitely a challenge for all of us."
She said the live singing and acting was like "going to a Broadway show, but you're in your living room."

"The Sound of Music" airs Dec. 5 on NBC with Underwood playing Maria alongside "True Blood" vampire Stephen Moyer. He portrays Captain von Trapp. Broadway veterans — and Tony winners — Audra McDonald, Laura Benanti and Christian Borle round out the cast as Mother Abbess, Elsa and Max.

While the Nashville, Tenn.-based Underwood is no stranger to performing before millions of people on live television — she won the fourth season of "American Idol" — she felt she needed more preparation, so she showed up in New York three weeks early.
"I wanted to be here and have all my lines memorized and everything and be ready for it. It's been really wonderful," Underwood said. "Audra and Laura are incredible. Stephen's great. It's nice to be surrounded by that much talent."
Before doing that show, the multiplatinum-selling artist returns to her hosting duties on the CMAs. She's nominated for three awards, including album of the year and song of the year. While she and co-host Brad Paisley have it down to a science, she doesn't see the experience as old hat.
"You never know what's going to happen with us hosting," Underwood joked.
She added: "I think being nominated — especially when hosting the CMAs — you just never know."

The CMAs take place Nov. 6 in Nashville.
Underwood also spoke about recording the opening number this season for "Sunday Night Football." She claims doing it was a no-brainer.
"It's a lot of fun. I grew up watching football. I'm from Oklahoma, it's what we do," she said with a big smile.

The conversation then turned to hockey and her husband Mike Fisher's team, the Nashville Predators.

"They got off to a little bit of rocky start, but definitely getting some momentum. I feel like my husband right now. I know what he feels like now. I feel there's some really great, new young talent," Underwood said.
And what about the team's star center?

"My hubby, he's been out for the past couple of games with a foot fracture thing. But he'll be back on the ice, ASAP. I hope he does, because that's the only way I get to see him, other than iChat."

A "leaked" video of Kanye West's over-the-top proposal to Kim Kardashian at San Francisco's AT&T Park has hit the web. We can conclude from the "blurriness" of the video that is was not approved by Kanye West because we can't get a good look at any of the things that matter to them most.  There's no way KimYe would approve a clip that didn't include close-ups of her 15-carat ring.
In the meantime, fans of the "camera-shy" couple can watch a sneak peek at the proposal.......which we are sure will have its own hour-long E! News special in the near future.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, former "Girlfriends" star Jill Marie Jones has landed a recurring role on FOX's drama "Sleepy Hollow". Jill joins the series on November 25th as "Cynthia", the former wife of Frank Irving (Orlando Jones) and mother to their teenage daughter, Macey (Amandla Stenberg).

On STARZ........

Naturi Naughton has joined the cast of STARZ drama series "Power". The series, which is be executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, tells the story of James “Ghost” St. Patrick (played by Omari Hardwick), who leads a double life and a club owner and lucrative drug kingpin. Naturi will play Omari's wife, confidant AND accomplice Tasha.
Hmmm.....sounds juicy.  The eight-episode first season will air in 2014.

On HBO......

Denzel Washington‘s handsome son John David Washington has landed a series regular role on the HBO pilot "Ballers". Produced by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the half-hour dramedy chronicles the lives of several Miami-based athletes. John will play a highly competitive and highly spiritual "baller".  Former rapper turned actor "Marky" Mark Wahlberg is also a producer on the series.  We'll let you know if the pilot gets picked up as a full series.
