Jay Z and Beyonce Top Billboard's Power 100 List

Billboard Magazine dubs Jay Z and Beyonce the most powerful couple in music...

From Billboard
Who in the music industry did so better in the last year than this power couple?
Leveraging their star power to release new albums in unprecedented ways—Jay Z through Samsung and Beyoncé through iTunes—they instantly changed how the industry and fans thought about interacting with music. He gave his album away; she charged a premium price for hers. But they both used the element of surprise to restore the excitement that used to accompany a new release, before that impact was dulled by the endless thunder of carefully plotted promotion.
In short, they proved that content truly is king. Or, in this case, king and queen.

Beyonce Headlines Michelle Obama’s Star-Studded 50th Birthday Bash

Beyonce headlines Michelle Obama birthday party First lady Michelle Obama celebrated her 50th birthday on Saturday with a fun dance party that featured live performances by Beyonce and John Legend.
The White House’s East Room became one of the hottest dance clubs in the nation when it came time to celebrate the first lady’s 50th birthday with a guest list of about 500 people.
President Barack Obama was tight-lipped about the party details prior to Saturday evening as he wanted to keep them a surprise for his wife.
Now that the festivities are over, more details are leaking about the party that brought out stars like Jennifer Hudson, Samuel L. Jackson, and famous weatherman Al Roker.
It was no surprise that Beyonce turned out to be the headlining performance for the night considering her close relationship with the Obama family.
The “Drunk In Love” songstress serenaded the first couple during their first Inaugural Ball in 2009, and she was joined by a live band for a 30-minute set to kick off the first lady’s birthday bash.
After her performance, Beyonce snapped a photo of herself playing with the Obamas’ dog Sunny, while flaunting her long, lean legs in a short, gold dress.
She posted a photo of her daughter Blue Ivy meeting the friendly White House pet as well.
While Beyonce was in charge of getting the party guests on their feet, John Legend was given the honor of singing Happy Birthday to Michelle.
Beyonce headlines Michelle Obama Birthday bash After the live performances were complete, DJ Cassidy was in charge of keeping the party going until 4 a.m., and it was obvious that the guests didn’t mind staying up until the last minute.
“We were here for the first lady’s birthday and that was the highlight,” Smokey Robinson said on his way out of the dance party on Sunday morning. “The president gave a wonderful, wonderful speech about her and then Beyonce performed and wow.”
Before the party, other famous guests were bubbling with excitement in anticipation of the big night.
“I am looking forward to saying happy birthday to her, being able to celebrate this great milestone in her life,” Samuel L. Jackson said.
As for Al Rocker, he had one very simple request.
“I’m hoping it’s old school,” he said before adding that he really wanted to dance all night.
The president was the host of the evening and he revealed another birthday present that he gave the first lady.
After the family ended their two-week Hawaiian vacation, the first lady got to stay behind for another week and enjoy some quiet time in the tropical getaway.
Other famous guests at the party included Gayle King, Mary J. Blige, Angela Bassett, Hillary Clinton, Paul McCartney, Gladys Knight and John Legend’s new wife Chrissy Teigen.

Kanye West is Inspiration For New Religion Called ‘Yeezianity’

Kanye-West-pfKanye West is the inspiration for a new religion called ‘Yeezianity’.  According to the site Noisy Vice, the church of Yeezus was founded by a man who doesn’t want to be identified, because he fears that any name-association with the religion will ruin its goal to help people anonymously.
The group follows what it calls the “5 Pillars,” which are as follows:
1. All things created must be for the good of all
2. No human being’s right to express themselves must ever be repressed
3. Money is unnecessary except as a means of exchange
4. Man possesses the power to create everything he wants and needs
5. All human suffering exists to stimulate the creative powers of Man
The founder of Yeezianity recently took out a Craiglist ad in hopes of gaining membership—and publicity.
In the interview with Noisy Vice, the founder discussed the response since launching the religion. The diversity has been substantial. There have been people who’ve sent me just straight up support—they must like the positive message about it. And then there are some people who’ve sent me a lot of Kanye hate mail, but that’s cool. For example, on reddit, somebody posted and said, “Stupidity attracts itself.” [Laughs] But I was like, hey, you could substitute that word for genius or anything else you want. Even a homeless dude sent me a reply, and asked if we could help him get on his feet. That’s why I want to stay anonymous. I can speak to whomever I want with authority, and they won’t know who I am. But on the whole, I mean, people who do and don’t know who Kanye is alike probably think this is absurd.” he said.
The interview went on to discuss his ultimate goal for creating Yeezianity.  ”The whole idea of putting Yeezus or Kanye—you know, I think in a lot of ways I want to create some controversy. I want people to be like, ‘This is absolutely ludicrous [...] it will certainly start a dialogue to some extent. But in a lot of ways, on a personal level, I want to attract Kanye to the point where I can meet him at some point. I’ll be honest, if I had to go with what the ultimate desire was, first and foremost, and what stimulated the inspiration, it was that. I don’t want to take the whole thing to a personal level, but there’s no one northwestout there doing what Kanye is doing. And how do you get someone like that’s attention? I hope that’s not selfish.” he said.
West has not yet made any public acknowledgment of the religion.
In other news, Kim Kardashian, fiancé and mother of West’s daughter, showed off new pictures of little North West on The Ellen DeGeneres Show airing on Friday. The proud mama couldn’t help but gush about her 7-month-old mini-me. She described North as being calm and quiet and gave West credit for being a great dad. ”He is honestly the most amazing dad. He loves her so much,” Kardashian said, showing a picture of West giving Nori a piggyback. “He really is a hands-on dad.”

Anti-gay law: Bishop Matthew Kukah commends president Jonathan

Social critic, commentator and the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah,  has commended President Jonathan for the express signing into law of the anti-gay bill that would criminalize all forms of same sex relationships in Nigeria.

He expressed his approval and delight with the signing into law at a media roundtable held in Sokoto State. He also expressed his gratitude to the National Assembly for expediting action on the bill.

The bishop said; "I also want to commend the National Assembly for the zeal and enthusiasm with which they passed the bill. As far as I am concerned, anybody who lives in Nigeria and most parts of Africa knows that culturally, religiously and morally, this is not our life and culture".

First pic of nun who gave birth and claimed she didn't know she was pregnant

Circled is the Salvadorean nun who said she had no idea she was pregnant when she gave birth to a baby boy last week (Find the story here).

33 year old Roxana Rodriguez, a nun with the order of the Little Disciples of Jesus, initially claimed she thought her labour pains were 'stomach cramps' when an ambulance rushed her to the hospital.

Her picture was published this weekend in the Italian daily newspaperCorriere Della Sera. The new mum reportedly told her social worker:
'I am so happy. I feel more of a mother than a nun, I think that's obvious. I decided to call him Francis in honour of our wonderful south American Pope. I do not feel of guilt. I will be keeping him and bringing him up. He is a gift from God. I am little worried about all the publicity, not only in Italy but in El Salvador and all over the world. Everyone is talking about this and I don't think I will be able to return to my home country"
Sister Roxana took her vows and became a nun in the order last September and has since written an apology letter to the Church and her Mother Superior. She revealed that the father of her child is a man from her native El Salvador but has not named him. Continue...

A priest close to the new mum told the Italian magazine:
'It all happened last spring, around March or April time when she was back in El Salvador to get her passport renewed. She has not said who the father is but I understand he is an, shall we say, old flame of hers from when she was younger. At some stage I expect she will tell the father that he has a son and they will be reunited but I don't know when that will be.'

3year old girl beaten black and blue by 2 year old classmate

This story is so bizarre & pics of the injured child are horrific. Don't understand why a school would refuse to remove a child known to fight and injure other children. And how can a child be so violent at just 2? Most importantly where were the school staff when the attack took place? Story below..
The mother of a little girl who was beaten black and blue by an 'out-of-control' two-year-old at nursery has called for the child's expulsion.
Katie Ann Guttridge, aged three, sustained a bruised eye socket, scratches and three bite marks when she was attacked by her classmate during playtime at Ratby Pre-School Nursery in Leicester.
The little girl's mother, Clara Mackow, said her daughter was almost blinded in the attack and that her injuries were so bad that she was taken to hospital with a suspected broken eye socket.

Police were called in to investigate the assault but were powerless to act because the girl who attacked Katie is below the legal age of criminal responsibility - which in this country is 10 years old.
When confronted by journalists, the mother of the violent girl refused to discuss her child's behaviour, saying only: 'My daughter is two years old. I want nothing more to do with this.'

Now, parents are demanding the child - who has been dubbed 'Chucky' after the violent child-like doll in thehorror film Child's Play - be removed from the nursery after she attacked 10 other children.

Ms Mackow, 28, a trainee goldsmith, said she couldn't believe it when she saw her daughter after the attack on December 13, adding: 'I just cried. She had gashes to her lips and a terrible black eye. Katie looked like she had been in a fight with a dog that had mauled her.

'We had to take her to hospital because the doctors thought she had fractured her eye socket.
'She was almost blinded in the attack which was totally unprovoked. I know kids get into scrapes but my daughter was really hurt in this attack.'

It has been claimed the two-year-old, who has not been identified, has attacked 10 other children since she started the nursery in September.

Ms Mackow, (pictured above with Katie who has since recovered from her injuries) who also has a five-year-old son Joshua, said: 'The little girl is two but she has behavioural problems.

'The little girl who attacked her has a history of beating up other children. She's out of control.
'I know 10 other children have been assaulted by the girl since September. The staff at the nursery don't seem able to cope with the difficult children.

'Ironically, the little girl's mother is a child minder with close links to the nursery and school so the staff consider her one of their own and seem reluctant to discipline her.

'Nursery and pre-school should be fun and enjoyable but Katie is scared of going now and doesn't even want to go outside in case she bumps into the girl who hurt her.'

Katie and the girl started at the pre-school and nursery, held in Ratby Village Hall, at the same time in September.

Official nursery incident reports showed Katie has been attacked on four separate occasions by the same girl.
The nursery's Accident/Injury form states that on September 22 the girl hit Katie on the forehead with a 'plastic yellow drummer'.

On October 11 the same girl 'pushed two duplo bricks together pinching Katie's left hand.'
On November 5 the same child 'grabbed Katie's hair and face and sucked her cheek causing a mark.'
The incident was deemed so serious nursery managers sent a letter home to Katie's parents explaining her injuries.

But the most serious attack happened on December 13 when the girl cornered Katie in the book area of the nursery.

Nursery staff applied an ice pack to Katie's face to reduce the swelling and called in her father Lewis Guttridge to collect her and take her to hospital.

The nursery has a maximum of 26 children aged between two and four years old but has more than 100 youngsters on their books and waiting list.

Ms Mackow is now preparing to take legal action against the nursery claiming negligence.
She added: ‘I am not doing this for the money, I just want parents to be aware that when they drop their children at nursery or pre-school they should not blindly believe they will be safe.’
