Nigerian man who stabbed his wife while she slept jailed for 12 years

A Nigerian businessman has been jailed for 12 years after he was found guilty of stabbing his wife as she slept in their home. Oluwabusayo Abegunde, 38, (pictured above) stabbed his wife repeatedly with a kitchen knife after he went through her phone and discovered she was seeing someone else.

Esther Abegunde, 33, told her husband of ten years that their marriage was over and moved into a spare room on February 16th 2013. Abegunde attacked her with the knife after he discovered why she wanted to leave him. Oluwabusayo stabbed Esther in the chest, arm, and punctured her left lung, according to the Manchester Evening News. Continue...



As Esther began to bleed to death Abegunde agreed to call an ambulance after making her promise she would tell police she had caused the wounds herself. To make it believable, he cut himself with the knife to make it look like he had also been attacked before emergency services arrived.

Esther survived the brutal attack and later told the police the truth. Abegunde, who has businesses in Nigeria and was a respected member of Manchester’s Nigerian community was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

He was found not guilty of attempted murder at an earlier trial but the jury at Manchester crown court found him guilty of grievous bodily harm this week and he was jailed for 12 years.

The former couple have two sons, aged eight and four.

Katy Perry and John Mayer break up!

According to an exclusive report by E!, Katy Perry and John Mayer have split after dating on and off for almost two years. A source close to the couple told E! that Perry broke up with Mayer within the last few days.

No other details about what prompted the singer's decision were forthcoming, but Mayer was noticeably absent from Perry's side on her recent trip to London and Milan. She returned home to Los Angeles on Friday. 

Despite some early ups and down, the musical pair fast became one of Hollywood's hottest couples, sweetly gushing about each other in interviews and collaborating on the song "Who You Love," off of Mayer's latest album, Paradise Valley." E! reports

Kim Kardashian -- who claims to not really be into that whole body-alteration thing where plastic surgery is required -- has gone and done the gross: she's actually so self-involved and concerned with her appearance that she went and got stretch marks removed via laser surgery. Stretch marks on her boobs, because apparently they were bothering her that much that she needed to seek professional help for them. You know what else Kim might need to seek professional help for? Well, never mind.

On the recent airing of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," Kim visited a surgeon to discuss her hands, which, according to her were "so wrinkly," and she's, like, totally "obsessed" with her hands. While she was there, she talked about having a scar on a toe removed, because ewwie, scars, and then went for the full monty by deciding to go with the stretch mark reduction thing that was on the menu for good measure. Next thing you know, she'll be complaining of varicose veins that she'd like to have lasered off, too.

Kim, if this is the example you're going to be setting for your young daughter -- following in the footsteps of the toddler-waxing Farrah Abraham -- then you really need to buckle in, kid, because it's going to be a long and bumpy road for you and your girl. ... No matter, though -- any bumps will no doubt be eradicated by some kind of laser or abrasive surface or corrosive acid. We get it.
