Rihanna late again to her own concertRihanna arrived more than an hour late to her concert in Adelaide, Australia, on Thursday and was immediately booed before kicking off the entire first half of a set with songs many of her fans didn’t even know.
Rihanna recently sat down with Glamour Magazine where she claimed she really wasn’t much of a party girl anymore, but if that’s the case we really aren’t sure what’s holding her up all the time.
RiRi has created a reputation for being late to her shows, which her Australian fans were clearly not accepting.
As soon as the petite songstress hit the stage, the crowed erupted in boos while Rihanna offered an extremely poor explanation for her tardiness.
“It always takes me a long time to get to Australia,” she said.
Needless to say, that didn’t make the audience feel any better about waiting an hour and 20 minutes for the Bajan beauty to show up.
She has yet to explain what exactly caused her to be late, but according to her latest interview she insists it’s not partying.
“I am such a bootleg rock star,” she told Glamour Magazine. “I do nothing. I’m embarrassed to say that actually. That’s so disgusting. It’s pathetic. I’m a bit of a square.”
It’s hard to believe, however, when her Instagram and Twitter posts are filled with pictures that suggest otherwise…or maybe she was being so sarcastic that none of us caught it.
Either way, she definitely has some explaining to do to her fans, because it seems like she’s putting twice as much energy into throwing shade at her rivals in the music industry, than she is focusing on the people who swept her into fame and fortune in the first place.
Rihanna says she isn't a party girl in GlamourConstantly tweeting about how she hates broke people, and then showing up late to her shows consistently will get old for the Rihanna Navy eventually. In case you didn’t know, many of Rihanna’s fans are rolling in cash, so bashing “broke people” does mean she’s throwing some shade at her listeners.
The “Stay” singer apparently feels invincible, however, which may explain why she isn’t concerned with being on time or being respectful to anyone.
“Being number one never gets old,” Rihanna said. “It actually puts a lot of pressure on you like it’s a challenge in itself.”
Of course, it’s extremely debatable whether or not Rihanna actually is number one.
While she may have flaunted her financial status during her feud with Teyana Taylor, there are tons of other ladies in the industry who top her earnings.
Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and of course Beyonce have her beat when it comes to getting paid the most for R&B and pop music.
She might be number one if you only consider the amount of albums she’s released, but even then, her No. 1 status holds up only when excluding albums that Taylor Swift actually wrote and helped produce for other artists.
In the battle of having the most dedicated fans, Lady Gaga’s Monsters and the BeyHive are in close competition, but Rihanna’s Navy would be far behind – especially after many of them failed to defend RiRi against Teyana’s allegations of promiscuity.
Simply put, Rihanna may put out a No. 1 hit here and there. Yet when it comes to being ranked No. 1 among other competitors in her category: That seems to be a bit far-fetched.
