Katie Holmes Ready to Date, Yet Loving the Single Life

Katie Holmes Dating – Is dating in Katie Holmes’s future? The ‘Batman Begins’ star is reportedly ready to date but has some hesitations. Her five-year marriage to megastar actor Tom Cruise ended, in part, due to his alleged controlling ways. The couple shares a daughter, Suri, who is turning out to be quite the fashionista. While Holmes is happy spending her time with her daughter, friends say she has expressed an interest in dating again.
Let’s face it; no one wants to live without the company of someone special forever. Despite the years spent in her high profile marriage to Cruise, Katie is only in her early 30′s. She has plenty of time to date. An insider close to Holmes says that while the ‘Dawson’s Creek’ star wishes to meet someone significant, she is afraid of what might happen as a potential relationship grows.
“She’s worried that if she commits herself fully to another man, she will have to give up the freedom she’s enjoying so much at the moment. As a single woman, she has no one controlling her nowadays, telling her what to do or who to see and she absolutely loves it,” the anonymous source said.
Prior to her whirlwind romance with ex-husband Cruise, Katie was engaged to ‘American Pie’ star Chris Klein. After five years together, the couple called it quits. Not long after, Holmes found herself paired with one of the biggest actors of our generation. By all accounts, it was an odd pairing, but initially it seemed to work. Often, Katie and their daughter Suri would accompany Cruise on-set of his biggest movies. However, after her career began to stall after the release of ‘Batman Begins’, rumors began to swirl that Holmes was missing out on high profile roles because Cruise would not allow his wife to work.
Finally free to live her life as she pleases, Katie has taken a low profile since divorcing. After taking a part in the Broadway show ‘Dead Accounts;’ which closed early due to poor reviews, Holmes has been relatively low-key.  She was rumored to be working on a project entitled ‘Molly’, a film she was reportedly co-writing and co-producing. In a case of life imitating art, the movie’s main plot is about a single mother raising her daughter. However, while People magazine reported that filming was to begin in August of last year, there has been no word on whether Katie has started the project or put it on hold.
Hopefully, Ms. Holmes will find love soon. In the meantime, her presence on-screen is definitely missed by die-hard ‘Dawson’s Creek’ fans.
